The Site's Mission...

is to bring attention to the phenomenal players, like Kenny Clarke, Bud Powell, and Johnny Griffin, who left America and were often forgotten at home during their most productive years. Their migrations were often bittersweet, because they were forced to leave their loved ones behind for extended periods; however, the situation that they faced in America  (e.g. record companies paying  musicians in drugs, segregation, and generalized rejection) was often lethal.
